A rich and buttery chocolate chip cookie that’s crispy on the edges and chewy in the center. This classic Nestlé Toll House recipe is easy to make and perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
Preheat & Prep
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream Butter & Sugars
- In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
Add Eggs & Vanilla
- Beat in eggs, one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix into wet ingredients until combined.
Add Chocolate Chips & Nuts
- Fold in chocolate chips and optional nuts.
Shape & Bake
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
Cool & Enjoy
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- Soft & Chewy Cookies: Chill dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- Crispy Cookies: Use more granulated sugar and flatten dough before baking.
