Description
This simple yet refreshing peach lemonade is perfect for hot summer days, combining the rich sweetness of ripe peaches with the tartness of fresh lemons.
Ingredients
- 4–5 ripe peaches
- 1 cup sweetener (sugar, honey, agave syrup, or a sugar substitute)
- 3 cups filtered water (or coconut water or sparkling water)
- 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons)
- Optional: Fresh mint, basil, or rosemary for garnish
- Optional: Ginger, chia seeds, or green tea for add-ins
Instructions
- Prepare the peaches by washing, peeling, and cutting them into chunks, removing the pit.
- In a saucepan, combine peach chunks, sweetener, and water. Heat over medium and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until peaches break down and syrup thickens slightly.
- Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer and let it cool to room temperature.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice (about 1/3 cup) and zest one of the lemons if desired.
- In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice and peach syrup. Add 3 cups of water, and stir well. Adjust sweetness if needed by adding more syrup or lemon juice.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or serve immediately over ice. Garnish with peach slices, fresh mint, or a slice of lemon.
Notes
Use ripe peaches for the best flavor. You can adjust the sweetness by adding more syrup or lemon juice to taste.
