Pepper Steak Recipe

Description

This pepper steak recipe combines tender beef with savory soy sauce, bell peppers, and onions, served over a bed of fluffy rice. It’s simple, flavorful, and perfect for any night of the week.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb steak (round, sirloin, or venison)
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 large onion
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Rice (white or brown)

Instructions

  1. Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.
  2. Slice the red and green bell peppers, and onion into thin strips.
  3. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, garlic powder, and ground ginger. Add the sliced steak and marinate for 20 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch to make the glaze. Set aside.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the bell peppers and onions, cooking until tender (about 4-5 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  6. In the same skillet, heat another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the marinated steak and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned.
  7. Add the cooked vegetables back into the skillet. Pour the glaze over the steak and vegetables. Stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  8. Serve the pepper steak over rice and enjoy!

Notes

Serve over cooked rice for a complete meal. For an extra tip, cook the rice ahead of time for quicker meal preparation.
