Description
This pepper steak recipe combines tender beef with savory soy sauce, bell peppers, and onions, served over a bed of fluffy rice. It’s simple, flavorful, and perfect for any night of the week.
Ingredients
- 1 lb steak (round, sirloin, or venison)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 large onion
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Rice (white or brown)
Instructions
- Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips.
- Slice the red and green bell peppers, and onion into thin strips.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, cornstarch, garlic powder, and ground ginger. Add the sliced steak and marinate for 20 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch to make the glaze. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the bell peppers and onions, cooking until tender (about 4-5 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, heat another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the marinated steak and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned.
- Add the cooked vegetables back into the skillet. Pour the glaze over the steak and vegetables. Stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve the pepper steak over rice and enjoy!
Notes
Serve over cooked rice for a complete meal. For an extra tip, cook the rice ahead of time for quicker meal preparation.
